Bike Paths
St Roch has several bike lanes for leisure and commuting with upcoming projects on the way.
The Southern border of St Roch is St Claude Avenue, equipped with a bike lane extending from Lower 9th Ward to the French Quarter. This is a major bicycling commuter lane that connects downtown New Orleans with the downriver neighborhoods.
In the center of St Roch is the protected bike lane on N. Galvez Street heading Eastbound along the one-way street that begins in Treme at the Lafitte Greenway and ends on the East end of St Roch. The Westbound counterpart to this route is N. Miro Street, which currently has two lanes and bicycles share one lane. Construction to convert one lane into a protected bike path was scheduled to begin in January 2022 but remains incomplete. More here.
For a slow-paced fun ride, St Roch Avenue is a popular choice with bike lanes along both sides of the Oak-filled neutral ground. This route begins at St Roch Market and ends at St Roch Park, and is frequented by several bicycle tours.
